1.  Peter1 WHEATON1 was born Abt. 17252, and died Unknown.

Notes for Peter WHEATON:

Peter WHEATON was listed on Colonial American 1607-1789 census in Rhode Island.

Peter was also listed in the 1776 Regimental Roll Census under  Col. Crary's Regime.

At this time I  do not have any other info on Peter, other than he had at least one son named Uriah who was born c. 1750, and who is our direct line ancestor.

Child of Peter WHEATON is:

2.              i.    Uriah2 WHEATON, b. 1741, Gloucester, New Jersey, USA; d. August 1811, Pee Pee Township, Ross County, Ohio, USA.

Notes for Margaret MACKEY:

From www.scioto.org/Pike/Censises/1820/1820-index.html

There is a Margaret WHEATON listed on page 375 of the 1820 census in Pee Pee Township.

There are two practically identical Uriah WHEATONs born 1741 on my web site.

Uriah, son of Peter married to Margaret MACKAY, and Uriah son of Uriah and Elinor married to Margaret WHEATON.  Both Uriahs born 1741 have the same children.

There is some confusion about Uriah WHEATON's birthdate and relationship to Uriah and Elinor.  In the LDS IGI his father s given as Peter WHEATON and his birthdate as 1750 in Gloucester County, New Jersey.  Uriah and Elinor had both died before 1750 according to the WHEATON family Bible.  Yet, the same Bible gives the 1750 Uriah both Peter and Uriah and Elinor as parents.

If the senior Uriah had a brother, Peter, one possible explanation is Uriah Sr's family took in Uriah Jr after Peter's death.

In the WHEATON family Bible, Uriah and wife Margaret are listed as first cousins.

Despite attempts to sort out this problem it appears we are no nearer reaching a solution.  Therefore at present there are two practially Uriah born 1741 families on the web site, one is son of Uriah with wife Margaret WHEATON and this one is son of Peter and with wife Margaret MACKAY

Notes for Abigail "Abby" WHEATON:

Information from Marjorie PARK 21/12/2004

Application made 25 May 1855

Abby received a bounty land warrant based on John's service in the War of 1812.  We sent for a copy of this from the National Archives.  Abby states that she was 66 years of age on May 25, 1855 which confirms that she was born around 1788/89.  The 1860 Federal Census of Ross County lists her as being 65 years of age and her nativity as NJ.  Obviously, she fibbed about her age--nothing new!

Notes for William H WHEATON:

Information from Duane and Nancy WHEATON 19/3/2003

William is of Welch-Irish descent with a vein from the Canadian Indian tribe of the Algonquin Nation. We have a Migration on him as follows:

* Ross County Ohio to Fillmore, Andrew County, Missouri. He was listed on the 1880 census in   Andrew Co. as  26 years of age and a Farm Laborer.

* From Andrew County, Mo. he moved to Mound City, Holt County, Missouri. He was listed on the     1893 Census in Holt County, as a broom Manufacturer.

* From Holt County, Mo., he moved to  Pleasant Hill, Cass  County, Missouri where he resided for a   while as a farm laborer and furniture builder.

* From Cass County, Mo. he moved to  Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri where he purchased   a home in the Mount Washington area which is located between Kansas City and Independence,   Missouri.

* From Kansas City he moved to Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri where he and his wife   resided the rest of their lives.

William was an accomplished  carpenter by trade and there are many of his beautiful hand made pieces of furniture still being used by family today. For clairfication purposes,  the 1910 Missouri census listed his birth date incorrectly and should it remain as shown above. He and his family were Methodist but prior to 1900 they joined the Church of Christ Temple Lot in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri.

In December 2004 Nancy WHEATON said that William died in Englewood, Jackson County, Missouri, USA.  I have written to Nancy to query this as we previously we sent another quite specific address as is shown.

He suffered shell-shock while in battle, was then placed on food staff  as a fry cook. His unit gave him the nickname of "Catfish Charlie" because he would fry catfish for General Patton  when he visited their unit.

He was  an alcoholic and suffered all of his life from mental problems caused from the shell-shock he received during World War I.  He became a member of  the Pentecostal Church in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was said to have married  three times, (names and dates unknown at this printing). Family stories say he killed his first two wives while suffering from his mental illness, his third wife was a former movie star and said to have performed for years with the famous Ziegfeld Follies.  He had a large ostrich feather fan hanging on his living room wall with a picture of her  in her Ziegfeld Follies outfit.  He was a short man of about five foot five inches in height, and she was very tall and slender in build.

In 1972 he was operated on for Crones Disease and had to have two feet of his colon removed. He moved his family back to Glastonbury Connecticut where he helped build Electrical plants powered by Pratt and Whitney jet engines. He and a friend later put jet engines on trains and called them "Turbo Trains", selling them to the Canadians.  He and his family finally settled in Atlanta Georgia where he helped build the subway trains for Atlanta's new metro, and helped the Japanese build a subway, and rebuilt the narrow gauge train up Lookout Mountain inChattanooga Tennessee.
