Abigail "Abby"3 WHEATON (Uriah2,
Peter1)93 was born 13 March 1788 in
Gloucester, New Jersey, USA94, and died 186495. She married John PARK96 21
December 1809 in Ross County, Ohio, USA96. He was born 178396,97, and
died Unknown.
Notes
for Abigail "Abby" WHEATON:
Information
from Marjorie PARK 21/12/2004
Abby
received a bounty land warrant based on John's service in the War of 1812. We sent for a copy of this from the National
Archives. Abby states that she was 66
years of age on May 25, 1855 which confirms that she was born around
1788/89. The 1860 Federal Census of
Ross County lists her as being 65 years of age and her nativity as NJ. Obviously, she fibbed about her age--nothing
new!

for William H WHEATON:
Information
from Duane and Nancy WHEATON 19/3/2003
William
is of Welch-Irish descent with a vein from the Canadian Indian tribe of the
Algonquin Nation. We have a Migration on him as follows:
*
Ross County Ohio to Fillmore, Andrew County, Missouri. He was listed on the
1880 census in Andrew Co. as 26 years of age and a Farm Laborer.
*
From Andrew County, Mo. he moved to Mound City, Holt County, Missouri. He was
listed on the 1893 Census in Holt
County, as a broom Manufacturer.
*
From Holt County, Mo., he moved to
Pleasant Hill, Cass County,
Missouri where he resided for a while
as a farm laborer and furniture builder.
*
From Cass County, Mo. he moved to
Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri where he purchased a home in the Mount Washington area which
is located between Kansas City and Independence, Missouri.
*
From Kansas City he moved to Independence, Jackson Co., Missouri where he and
his wife resided the rest of their
lives.
William
was an accomplished carpenter by trade
and there are many of his beautiful hand made pieces of furniture still being
used by family today. For clairfication purposes, the 1910 Missouri census listed his birth date incorrectly and
should it remain as shown above. He and his family were Methodist but prior to
1900 they joined the Church of Christ Temple Lot in Independence, Jackson
County, Missouri.
In
December 2004 Nancy WHEATON said that William died in Englewood, Jackson
County, Missouri, USA. I have written
to Nancy to query this as we previously we sent another quite specific address
as is shown.

He
suffered shell-shock while in battle, was then placed on food staff as a fry cook. His unit gave him the
nickname of "Catfish Charlie" because he would fry catfish for
General Patton when he visited their

his life from mental problems caused from the shell-shock he received during
World War I. He became a member of the Pentecostal Church in Kansas City,
