Obituary
The New York Times, Wednesday, Feb 27, 1897
L. H. GOLDSMITH Run Over and Killed
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., Feb.26. - L. H. GOLDSMITH aged forty-five, a resident of 14 Neptune Park, New Rochelle, was struck and killed by a train near the New Rochelle station last night. He was a fruit dealer at 25 East Twentieth Street, New York, and it was his habit to walk the track to the station every morning for the early New York train.
He retired at his usual time last night, and his wife and family were not aware that he was not in bed until after 1 o'clock. Then an unsuccessful search was made for him. As the body was completely attired with the exception of a collar and tie, it is thought that Mr. Goldsmith was killed while in a somnambulistic state. He had suffered from grip.
A widow, five sons, and one daughter survive.

HALL, Esther Frances (b. BET JUL AND SEP 1863, d. BET OCT AND DEC 1900)
Note: Addresses
1863 Fleet Street, Bethnal Green, Middlesex (baptism of Esther Frances)

Lodging with them was Harry SHARPE (25) Carman born Bethnal Green, Middlesex
1881 Duke Street, Bethnal Green, Middlesex
1891 28 Essex Street, South Hackney, Hackney, Middlesex

The alternative name for the bridegroom was Henry SHORT. An Esther SHORT was not found on the 1891 or 1901 census.
An Esther JOHNSON was found on the 1891 census but with the birth place shown as Hackney. Hackney is the next district to Bethnal Green, the Bethnal Green Road leads straight into Hackney. As Esther JOHNSON was living in Hackney in 1891 perhaps it was easier to give that as her place of birth.
Until we find this is incorrect I have entered details for Esther JOHNSON.
