DAVIS, Clifford Leopold (b. BET APR AND JUN 1895, d. UNKNOWN)
Note: Addresses
1901 14 Gashorne Road, Bedminster, Bristol, Gloucestershire
1911 4 Palmerston Street, South Street, Bedminster, Bristol, Gloucestershire
On the 1901 census Clifford is shown as being age 6 born Ashton Gate, Gloucestershire. This would suggest a birth between 1894/1896. There were five Clifford births in England during this period, four in the north of England and the fifth in the Taunton District of Somerset in the March quarter 1895 for a Clifford Percival D DAVIS. Given that the majority of his siblings had more than one name, was this entry for this Clifford?
On the other hand, all the ages of his siblings have been entered incorrectly, some shown older, others shown younger, so the age 6 is also suspect. There is no Clifford birth registered in the Bristol District between 1891 and 1901 but there is one registered in the Bedminster, Somerset District in the June quarter 1893 for a Clifford Leopold DAVIS and one registered in the Bedminster, Somerset District in the December quarter 1898 for a Clifford Trestrail DAVIS.
Given he is shown as 17 born Bristol on the 1911 census it has been decided that the birth registered as Clifford Leopold in the June quarter 1893 in the Bedminster District, Somerset is the correct one.

There is a Robert HIDE lodging in Cottenham, Cambridgeshire who was born Colne,
Huntingdonshire. Is this our man?
There is also a Robert HIDE death in March quarter 1854 in the St Neots District,
Huntingdonshire and one in December 1858 in the St Ives District, Huntingdonshire.
On ancestry there was just the one census return for a Robert HIDE and one in 1891 for a
Robert HYDE.
There was one Robert HIDE marriage in 1839 and three Robert HYDE marriages in 1839,
1852 and 1883.
So, no clues anywhere!

There is a Frederick HYDE born 1863 in Heston, Middlesex as a Corporal but states he
was born in St George, Middlesex. If this is the right Frederick he could have been in
South Africa in 1901 which would explain why he cannot be found on the 1901 census
