I think the following is the enlistment details of Robert in the Second World War. This shows him as being married, However there is a Robert W CANNON who shows up with a phone number in 1984 and a death, which I assume is the same person in 11th May 2002 with a birth date given as 11th September 1916, so very close to what I have been given, but not the same, so there could be another Robert W in Pennsylvania, and in fact there are two on the 1930 Census, one is ours the other is not.
