SMIES, Frederick William (b. 1 JAN 1861, d. 7 DEC 1929)
Note: Addresses
1900 Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA
Living with them was servant Augusta GENACH (21) born Ohio, USA
1910 Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA
1920 Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA
1929 3011 Coleridge Road, Cleveland, Ohio, USA

The 1900 census shows Jennie SMIES as aged 15 born September 1884. She is followed on the Census by the CRUMB girls born 1885, 1886 and 1893. Was she a daughter of Frederick before he married Minnie? On the census it is shown that she has had 3 children, with 3 still living which suggests that Jennie is not Minnies. For the time being the date of birth for Jennie has been altered to agree with the information on the 1900 census.

The 1910 census shows her aged 25; 1920 shows age 35; 1930 shows age 45, but also shows her as step-daughter of Minnie. Therefore, Frederick must have been married before.

WHEATON, Frederick (b. 19 SEP 1850, d. 5 JAN 1922)
Note: Addresses
1851 Slade End, Chatteris, Cambridgeshire as WHETON with grandfather Philip and his family
1861 Slade End, Chatteris, Cambridgeshire as Read W WADLOW
Given that there is no Read WADLOW birth registered, and no Frederick WHEATON 1861
entry I believe that Frederick WHEATON and Read W WADLOW are the same person.
Perhaps the Enumerator misread "Fred" in his notes as "Read" when he came to write up
the information.

Does the following apply to this Frederick? Mother died 1870
Passenger Lists, 1820-1943
about Fredk WHEATON
Name: Fredk WHEATON
Arrival Date: 26 Jan 1871
Age: 21 Years
Estimated birth year: abt 1850
Gender: Male
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Ship Name: Siberia
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts
Microfilm Roll Number: M277_79

Details from the 1880 census onwards are collected from ancestry.com and need supporting evidence before being definitely included in this family tree. Fred WHEATON was the only individual with that name, born in England about the right time. In 1900 his birth date is shown as September 1850 which matches with this Frederick WHEATON although on other census returns his date of birth varies, as does the year in which he arrived in America - between 1865 and 1874.

1880 Jefferson, Cook County, Illinois, USA
A Domestic Servant was Sophia READ (24) born Sweden. Boarding with them was John
DUNN (75) Labourer born England
1900 Chicago Ward 7, Jefferson, Cook County, Illinois, USA as Fred C, with new wife
1910 Ward 27, Chicago, Cook county, Illinois, USA as Fred C. Shows he has been married twice
1920 Ward 27, Chicago, Cook county, Illinois, USA as Fred C. Birth year 1854
Living with them was daughter Doll age 43 so presumably from Fred's first marriage. Was
this Mary?
